No matter what anyone may say, everyone
has a view or an opinion of God. Even if someone believes
there isn’t a God, that doesn’t mean they don’t have a view
of Him. Their view of God is that He simply doesn’t exist.
What does the word God make you think off?
- Images of a beardedold man
hunched on a throne in some far away, fairytale heaven?
- How about an impersonal cosmic force?
- Do you think of an angry, bloodthirsty
judge?
- Maybe you think God is some crazy religious
concept made up to make us all miserable?
Why is our concept of God so important?
The way we see God impacts our thoughts,
actions and behavior. Your view of God will ultimately determine
who you are, what you become, and what your future will be
like.
Obviously, there are so many ideas and
beliefs about God it can confuse anyone. But if how we view
God determines so much, how important is it to really find
out who or what He might be?
In searching for the truth about God, please
consider several things:
Ancient people looked for God in the earth,
moon and stars. For thousands of years, philosophers and religious
leaders have tried to find God in a multitude of rituals,
rules and regulations.
In our modern culture, the search tools
have morphed into terms like science and logic, but everyone
continues to look for the same thing. Everyone still desires
to know who God is and how to find Him.
With so many different theories about God,
and each one in some way contradicting the other, can there
be one, single theory that really is true?
You might be curious to know there is a
book that claims to know everything about God and how we can
connect with Him. Maybe you have heard what this book is called:
The Bible
Perhaps you think the Bible
is simply a book of fantasy and myths. Maybe you think it’s
really the very words of God. Either way, it has a lot to
say about who God is:
- God is absolutely good.
So amazingly good there is no bad or darkness in Him at
all. (See the book of 1John1: 5)
- God absolutely hates evil.
(See the book of Psalms 5: 4-5)
- God deeply loves and cares
about you. Yes, believe it or not He really
does! (See the book of 1John 4:7-11)
- God has made it possible
for you to connect with Him in a personal way through His
son Jesus Christ. (See the book
of John 3:16-17)
This is just some of what the Bible has
to say about God. It’s probably quite different from what
you might have heard from a college professor, scientist or
even a religious expert. But if the Bible is accurate, then
it means there is a God – and He really cares about you personally.
And we really mean personally! According
to the Bible, God has been with you all along and you just
didn’t know about it. The Bible states that:
- God is the one who created
you. As a matter of fact He made you in His
own image. (See the book of Genesis 1.27)
- You are not a mistake.
Every day of your life has been recorded in His book. (See
the book of Psalm 139.16)
- God brought you into this
earth at just the right time. He fixed the
exact time of your birth, what you would look like, and
where you would live. (See the book of Acts 17.26)
- He knows everything about
you. God is familiar with all your ways. (See
the book of Psalm 139.3)
